The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology Nepal has introduced the 'A La Carte' pricing system to make the fees charged by signal distributors transparent and organized.
This system has been implemented to ensure that the fee charged by signal distributors, such as Cable, MO, DTH, IPTV, MMDS, DTTB, is scientific and authorized to distribute television channel signals in Nepal according to the National Broadcasting Rules, 2052.

|TV package||Free-to-air channel||Paid TV channel||Total|
|NPR 250/Month||NPR 250/Month||NPR 500/month (Max. Cost)|
Basic Package and Full Package Fees:
As per the decision of the ministerial level, the fee has been determined according to the A-la-Carte pricing system. Accordingly, the minimum (basic) package fee has been set at 250 Nepalese rupees per month, while the full package costs only 500 rupees.
The system ensures that the cost of television services is not added to the cost of internet services, and that the current fees are not increased.
Channel Availability and Fees:
Under the basic package, broadcasting agencies are required to display Nepalese television channels and foreign free-to-air television channels for viewers, including information-based, news-based, educational, entertaining, and sports-related subject matters. For broadcasting paid channels, viewers will be charged fees based on individual channels or the basis of the 'booklet'.
The maximum price for each booklet is set at 40 Nepalese rupees, and the monthly maximum fee for s-pay television channels is set to be no more than 250 Nepalese rupees.
Rules for Signal Availability and Discrimination:
An arrangement has been made for consumers to make their own decisions on whether or not to subscribe to paid TV channels and for broadcasting institutions to follow that decision as mandatory.
Rules have been created to make signals available to all Nepali broadcasting institutions without discrimination by selecting local distributors to broadcast foreign paid TV channels with downlink permission in Nepal.
The A-la-Carte pricing system for television channels in Nepal has ensured that the fees charged by signal distributors are transparent and organized. The basic package costs only 250 Nepalese rupees, and the full package costs only 500 rupees.
The system ensures that the cost of television services is not added to the cost of internet services, and that the current fees are not increased. The availability of channels and the fees charged have also been regulated to provide viewers with a variety of options.
